John Coen 1961 – 2021

Today is a sad day once again for the MSC Motocross community.  John Coen, Founder of Diamondback MX and life long AMA and MSC member has passed away from Kidney Cancer.

John will be remembered for his creation of Diamondback MX in Modena, NY where it was “Built by Racers, For Racers” with massive jumps, whoops, staircase sections, the big triple out back, huge bowl turn by the spectators and the school bus signup booth!  Behind the scenes John’s insite would prove to be a tremendous help with managing the MSC.  John was also someone who would help anyone at any time with anything!  John would donate his money, time, his possessions, you name it, he would do it to help someone in need.  He will be missed dearly.

Our sincere condolences go out to Kelly, Jack, Carlo, Angela, and Mrs Coen and his many family and friends during this very difficult time.

Who knows they are dying and heads over to Moroney’s and buys a 2021.5 Factory Edition KTM 450, rode it once down the driveway just to do it one last time?  Oh yeah my buddy Johnny did. He was one cool dude.

Rest in Peace to MSC Expert #10 – John Coen

Scott Sheak (1974-2021)

The Metropolitan Sports Committee holds all members past and present dear to our hearts.  With that being said, one of our most beloved members, Scott Sheak Rider #4 has passed away today from injuries sustained in a practice crash on April 30th, 2021.

Scott has been a member of the MSC since the start of his motocross career.  Through his many years racing as a professional motocross and supercross star, Scott never forgot his roots. He was always happy to see you and spend time talking pretty much anything.  Scott was always happy and willing to share his knowledge with up and coming riders, some of which went on to win amateur national titles and enter into professional mx racing.  When Scott came back to the track this year, he had such a big smile on his face. He was home once again where he belonged.  Scott raced the Plus 40 Expert class at the Walden MX AMA Pro Am event in April and easily won both motos.

Scott meant a lot to so many people within our series/district.  He was one of the true heros of the sport.

Our most sincere condolences go out to Scott’s wife Amy, his mom and dad, and his family during this most difficult time.

We would like to thank Road2Recovery for their fast action and efforts to help and support Scott and his family and those who donated to Scott’s GoFundMe page.

Wake Services will be held for Scott at Bates & Anderson Funeral Home, 110 Green St, Hudson, NY 12534

Calling hours on Wednesday, May 26th, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Funeral Service will be on May 27th, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Bates & Anderson immediately following at Cedar Park Cemetery, 20 Columbia Tpke, Hudson, NY 12534

Celebration of Life following the cemetery at Claverack Motocross Track, 131 Tishauser Road, Hudson, NY 12534

Anyone wishing to come with a Camper/RV can come the day before to the day after as per Bob and Leah Brew. No bikes allowed this is for memorial purposes only.  Thank you in advance.

Thank you Leah and Bob Brew.

Please keep the Sheak family in your thoughts and prayers.

May you Rest in Peace my friend.  Until we meet again.

Your pal,

Jamie Slaughter
