MSC NEWS

MSC wins AMA Club of the Year for 2020!

It was announced today that the Metropolitan Sports Committee has won the AMA, Club of the Year award for the 2020 season.

When we think of awards, we typically think of riders winning races and normally it isn’t us on the receiving end of something like this.   To be honest, it is an honor to be recognized by the American Motorcyclist Association for our hard work and dedication to the sport of motocross. Thank you AMA!

So how did we do it?

We did what we always do, we offered a great option for riders to participate in motocross racing with a consistent program our riders are accustom to.  With great enthusiasm each and every year, the MSC aligns itself with wonderful companies such as Honda, Kawasaki, Husqvarna, Suzuki, Yamaha and for 2021 you can add KTM to that fold for OEM Contingency programs for our riders.  We work with aftermarket companies such as DP Brakes, Apparel companies such as Fly Racing and Online Giants such as Rocky Mountain MC/ATV for their rider support programs again focused on our riders.  Combine this with the 6 great tracks we schedule dates with and one heck of a banquet with huge trophies, special awards for those riders who EARN it and of course the best banquet prizes in the business with not just one but TWO BRAND NEW 2021 MOTOCROSS BIKES AND NOW ADD A MOUNTAIN BIKE we will be raffling off!

Yeah that is how its done.  That is how it has been done for many years here at the Metropolitan Sports Committee AMA District 34

Thank you goes out to:

Michael Gurda &  Rohit Patel (OCFMX), Paul Cornell & Henry Mormile (Echo Valley),  Jamie Marvin & Kaden Marvin (Holiday Mountian), Kathy Fox & Steve Kaznowski (Walden MX), Rob Angot, Mike Hoensch, Terry Finkle & Walter Marshall (Ace MX), Ralph Scannapieco (MSC Sgt at Arms), Walt Decker (MSC Ref), Butch Racenet, Davey Sterritt & Aaron Lampi (MSC Rider Reps), my wife Yasmin Slaughter, my daughters Ava and Emma Slaughter and my son James Slaughter Jr (Diamondback).   All that hard work and dedication to volunteer our time and effort just got recognized.

We also thank our loyal riders who continuously partake in great motocross racing with us each and every weekend.  2021 is looking great with many more riders signing up compared to last year.  Our banquet will be on March 27th, 2021 at OCFMX Arena from 4pm to 9 pm and racing will start on April 11th also at OCFMX.

Sincerely,

James Slaughter, Chairman

2020 Race Season & Awards

Thank you!

2020 is almost coming to a close.  This year will go down in history as the year that brought families back to simpler times.  All the negatives that we can think of, well we all know what they are, but we must admit, after the racing series got going, it was Almost normal again!!!  Yeah, we had to wear masks and wash our hands more often, but we all got a chance to let go of our daily grind and smell the burning race fuel, hear the thunder as the gate drops, and have some great times racing dirt bikes once again.

We were blessed that we were able to get the 14 rounds in and we must thank many people that helped make it happen.  First we need to thank our MSC Board for putting in the work early on to make this season happen. Between in person meetings, Zoom meetings, phone meetings, text group messaging, thank you all for being available.

Thank you to our many people who help on race weekends such as our “Flagger Crew” led by Marsha Meyers, MSC Starter Team of  Jeremy Meyers and Scott Schrimpe, MSC Announcer Randy Simpson, Scoring Team of Jeff Freedman, Tracey Kazie, Lisa Kazie, Maureen Pyrch, Donna Cornell, Christina Avery, Maggie Plaza and so many others.  It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to put these events on each and every weekend and without these folks and so many others, it wouldn’t be possible.

Thank you to our sponsors: American Honda, Husqvarna USA, Kawasaki Motorcycles, Suzuki of America, Yamaha Motorsports, Fly Racing, DP Brakes, and Rock Mountain ATV-MC.

Thank you to our riders.  You trust us with providing a good event for you to come and enjoy each race weekend.  We sincerely appreciate you and your families participation on race weekends.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to our 2020 MSC/AMA D-34 Series Champions.  To win in this series, you must be dedicated, consistently finish first or close to it each and every race, and be prepared physically, mentally, and mechanically.

Congratulations to all our riders who earned a Top 10 Finish in their respective class for the MSC/AMA D-34  Competition Partner Championship MX Series.

OK so we have a few rules that we must adhere to, to ensure we comply with our SAFE TO RACE plan for Wuhan Chinese Virus (COVID-19)

Riders and Race Families only, no spectators or people who are here without a racer.

FAQ:

  • You have a racer in your family and you are here to support their racing efforts, you are allowed to be onsite. If you come in a different vehicle, please let us know who your racer is so we can note it on our roster sign-in. You must have at least one rider you are “supporting” to be onsite.
  • Are grandma and grandpa, uncle or aunt, cousins, brothers and sisters, race friends/mechanics spectators? Of course not, as in all motocross families, it takes a team of people to ensure their rider has the support needed to race. Just make sure your race team stays in your pit area when not watching the racer navigate the race course during their practice or race.
  • If I am racing by myself, am I allowed on site? Of course you are! You are a racer!
  • Will there be seating for race teams to watch? No seating is provided. Please bring your own lawn chairs and remember, you must remain 6 feet away from others when at the fence lines.
  • Will I need a face mask? Yes, please wear a facemask when entering the track at the front gate sign in, at the racer registration, in staging and on the starting line with your racer and while watching your racer navigate the course.
  • There will be no exceptions for not wearing face masks in the locations requiring them to be worn. You will be warned 1 time. If you fail to follow this policy you may be asked to leave with no refund of any kind. We certainly don’t want that to happen so just wear the mask when required and we will all have a great race weekend.

Rules for paying:
Entry Fee: $15.00 per person ages 6 and older in team and all riders regardless of age – wristband MUST be worn on wrist at all times. NO EXCEPTIONS
