Number 1 Plates will be handed out this Sunday at Diamondback MX. The 1st Annual John Coen Memorial AMA Pro Am with Honda, Husqvarna, KTM, and Yamaha Contingency all available.
This event is special for many reasons. An AMA Pro Am brings more outside talent into our District than normal. You will see some up and coming expert racers all battling it out for the top spot, claiming the sought after Pro Am points with hopes of becoming professional racers sooner than later. 4 Major manufacturers placing contingency on this event shows how important it is to them to get their top riders on the box at Diamondback. Last but never least, we will be celebrating and racing in the memory of Diamondback MX Founder, John Coen.
In 1992, Diamondback MX began its first season with the Metropolitan Sports Committee in Modena NY. John Coen had a vision and made that reality come to life. Diamondback moved to East Durham, NY where it is today and once again, Diamondback MX became a fast paced, place to race. Unfortunately John Coen passed away in June of this year. We dedicate this race in his honor. Please come and enjoy the great races with a great new Schedule based around the Experts, John’s idea from many years ago.

Today is a sad day once again for the MSC Motocross community. John Coen, Founder of Diamondback MX and life long AMA and MSC member has passed away from Kidney Cancer.
John will be remembered for his creation of Diamondback MX in Modena, NY where it was “Built by Racers, For Racers” with massive jumps, whoops, staircase sections, the big triple out back, huge bowl turn by the spectators and the school bus signup booth! Behind the scenes John’s insite would prove to be a tremendous help with managing the MSC. John was also someone who would help anyone at any time with anything! John would donate his money, time, his possessions, you name it, he would do it to help someone in need. He will be missed dearly.
Our sincere condolences go out to Kelly, Jack, Carlo, Angela, and Mrs Coen and his many family and friends during this very difficult time.
Who knows they are dying and heads over to Moroney’s and buys a 2021.5 Factory Edition KTM 450, rode it once down the driveway just to do it one last time? Oh yeah my buddy Johnny did. He was one cool dude.
Rest in Peace to MSC Expert #10 – John Coen
