NEW AMA REQUIREMENT: Annual Minor Waiver

🚨 ATTENTION: ALL MINOR RACERS MUST HAVE PROPER DOCUMENTATION TO RIDE – NO EXCEPTIONS. 🚨

To ensure compliance with AMA insurance carrier rules and MSC event policies, we have updated our Minor Waiver Policy for the 2025 season and beyond. These rules apply to all minor riders (under the legal age of majority) participating in any MSC-sanctioned practice or race event.

Minor Rider Check-In Requirements

✅ OPTION 1: BOTH PARENTS/GUARDIANS PRESENT AT CHECK-IN

  • Both parents/legal guardians must be physically present at the event to sign their minor rider in.
  • If both parents are present, no off-site notarization is required.

✅ OPTION 2: ONLY 1 OR NO PARENTS/GUARDIANS PRESENT AT CHECK-IN

New AMA Annual Minor Waiver Option

Starting this season, every minor racer should get an Annual Minor Waiver on file with the AMA. This waiver must be completed in advance to avoid any delays or issues at check-in.

How to Complete the Annual Minor Waiver:

There are two versions of the waiver, depending on guardianship status:

🔹 Two-Parent/Guardian Waiver (Joint Custody)

  • Both parents or legal guardians must individually sign and submit the form.
  • After the first parent signs, they must select “ANYONE ELSE NEED TO SIGN” so the second parent can complete their portion.

🔹 Sole Custody Waiver

  • If only one parent or legal guardian has sole custody, they must complete and submit the waiver.

Additional Event-Specific Waivers & Track Policies

If your minor rider DID NOT get the Annual Minor Waiver, and only one parent or legal guardian is bringing the MINOR RIDER to the event, you need to bring this to Each Race:

Blank Minor Waiver Form (Available for download here)
Notarized Minor Waiver Form from Both Parents/Legal Guardians  (or Sole Custody Parent)
Notarized Authorization Letter (If Using a Temporary Authorized Adult)

Temporary Authorized Adult Policy

If a parent or legal guardian cannot attend an event, they may designate a Temporary Authorized Adult (must be 25 years or older) to accompany the rider. This requires:

Blank Minor Waiver Form (Available for download here)
✅ Notarized Minor Waiver Form from Both Parents/Legal Guardians (or Sole Custody Parent)
✅ A notarized letter from both parents/legal guardians granting permission for the Temporary Authorized Adult to sign race-related documents.
✅ The Temporary Authorized Adult must be present throughout the event while the minor rider is participating.
✅ This letter can only be used on a per event basis and must be completed and notarized for every event the minor attends.

What Happens If You Don’t Have the Proper Documentation?

🚨 Without a completed waiver, your rider will NOT be permitted to race. No exceptions. 🚨

To prevent last-minute issues, we strongly recommend completing your waiver well before the first event of the season. Online notary services such as Notarize.com are available if an in-person notary is not accessible.
